Toxic Free Materials and Finishes
Being a small family owned buisness with two kids, it's important to us to have a safe enviroment for our family and we know it's important to you as well!
Read more about the world class toxic free materials and finishes we use on the products we build.
Domestic Hardwoods
Here at our shop, we use only the finest Hardwoods from this region and this fact makes our products much more valuable than anything you'll find elsewhere. You won't find anything with MDF with a convincing veneer that will match the beauty and durability of hardwood at a generic home-supply store, as those are created cheaply abroad. Whats worse is the imported furniture industry standard is a 200%-400% markup.
Unlike our competitors, we are committed to creating a product that will last for generations. Thats why we only use only the finest domestic Hardwoods like Ash, Cherry, Red Oak, Maple, Walnut, and White Oak sustainably havested right here in our region.
Our furniture is made to pass down to your grandchildren.
Oil Finish
As a craftsmen that takes pride in our work, it is of the utmost importance to select the best finishing material. We have spent the time to do the research and as a result have come to find that oil finish is far superior when compared to pigmented stains such as your typical minwax stains.
The biggest difference being the clarity of grain your get with an oil finish. This is one of the reasons furniture from the olden days has more character to the wood.
After researching the best the market had, we discovered a natural linseed oil based product called Rubio Monocoat. It's a non-toxic finish which provides a durable yet reparable coating for our products.
Not only are they the best oil finish in the industry their product is so safe its rated for childrens toys, fit for food, and even fire resistant.
The proof is in their certifications! There's a long list. Check them out.
Ecos Paints
Ecos Paint was established in 1985 and they are committed to the environment.
When looking at the paint options available for safe, non-toxic paints, we found a few marketed as safe but then realized upon reading their data sheets that they were actually not quite as safe as advertised or worse, we could not find the data at all.
That's not the case with ecos paints, which are completely free of chemicals that are bad for the environment or for you. Its even manufactured right here in the USA in South Carolina.
It was a no-brainer when we decided to use these companies paints.
